Oh S**t Saturday

I went over to Eastern Point this morning to see if I could get out on the breakwater before the parking lot filled up. The 26 foot Barker broke her mooring and crashed into the breakwater. Her hull was breached and she went under.

The salvage crew patched her hull and fitted her with air bladders. It's off to the shipyard with her. I’m sure she will be shipshape in no time. Let's hope so!

Oh S**T is right on this one Steve. Did you have rough seas for it to break away like that? What a mess.

This was on the harbor side of the breakwater where it is generally calm. We had storms Thursday night and Friday morning, some winds out of the north that could have pushed her onto the north side of the breakwater. Or it could have been a failed line or knot.

Oh man, that's not purdy! I'll bet the owner was not pleased to say the least.

Are you going to make 'Oh S**t Saturday' a regular thing?
; )

I was wondering if Oh sh**t was a meme! This certainly fits the title. Very unfortunate for the owner. I hope he's insured.

I bet the owner uttered a few choice words as well.

I always love your shots (evem if I do not comment often).

I guess somebody will mourn the loss of this expensive toy until it is fixed. I wonder what the insurance rates are for something like this?

Hi Abe, It's a shame to see a beautiful boat get skuffed up. But it's all in a day's work for the salvage team and the shipyard, I'm sure.

That's totally cool, Whitemist. I'm glad you find it interesting enough to pop in from time to time.

Yeah Frank, I have a few choice ones that I reserve for such occasions.

Hi Janie and Sharon, I thought it was a good title for a MEME when I coined it. Let’s hope that these posts are few and far between. I did think it interesting to show how this salvage team was working, and since there wasn’t a tragic loss, we’ll leave the doom and gloom sh*t to the news papers, TV reports and other merchants of chaos.
