Femail Black Swallowtail

I think I have a female Black Swallowtail here. She's seen better days, looks like she's missing some of here gear. She was feeding on red clover.

It is such a pleasure to see the butterflies around after the long winter. I like the blue markings on her.

A wonderful capture with the wings open amongst the may meadow with red clover.

Ah, beautiful picture. I am fascinated with butterflies even though I cannot seem to photograph them well.
I am trying to get some time outdoors but life is a little limited but as soon as I can, I'll be the crazy lady chasing the butterflies in the meadows of the Rocky Mountains with my camera in my hand!

Poor thing. Despite her rough appearance though she is a survivor!

It looks a little 'chewed'!

Yup, JPT, but you got to strike while the iron is hot!

Thanks Ginnymo, Frank,!

Hi Sharon, As beautiful as butterflies are, they are not built to last.

I know where you're coming from Michele. I'm hoping you get lots of days chasing butterflies. I'm sure you have some nice ones up there as I used to in the Colorado Rockies.

This little lady was very cooperative, Arija. She stood still and was easy to work with.

Joan, you hit the nail on the head! I'd much rather be out shooting butterflies than snow drifts.

She's beautiful, even with her missing gear.
