Old Friend, Western Kingbird

Here is an old friend of mine that I met up with in California on our trip to Palm Springs. This is the Western Kingbird. This bird is not limited to the desert. We had lots of them in Colorado. In fact, they are found thought the west and are seen rarely east of the Mississippi.

Hi Steve,
These are two fantastic shot of a very nice bird. Now I know another bird species. Thanks for sharing. The bokeh and detaisl of these pictures are awesome!

Thanks Chris. This bird was actually cooperative and I had time to shoot in close and select the background.

Hi Mary, It gives me great pleasure to show folks something they have never seen before.

Hi Roy, Frank and Kelly, These colors are very true to the bird. Metering off a gray face helped, although the bird was very backlit.

HI Ginnymo, So good to have you drop in again.

I so enjoy seeing the kingbird. I havn't noticed them here in the wetter part of washington state. They seem to be more abundant for us on the leeward side of the mountains.

Nice lighting and clear uncluttered back ground.
This handsome bird looks like our Yellow-vented Bulbul.

I almost missed this one. :) The dark stipe by the eye and notch in the tail makes him very distinctive too. Lovely shots Steve.
