The top one looks almost the same as the Starling Philip has posted. I am sure they are the same family, just different names.

Fantastic grackle shots. They are a hard bird to photograph.

...the water look especially refreshing. In the second shot I like the water rings and how it is dripping from her foot.

Nice shots, it won't be long and the grackles will be around here too. The redwinged blackbirds have shown up.

Brilliant clarity Steve. You work wonders with that aperture setting.

I really like these. He really looks like he's enjoying that water and singing about it. The detail and clarity is amazing.

Beautiful shots!! I've never seen that kind of Grackle but we do get a lot of the regular ones. I can't wait to see what birds come through. I usually get a lot of Red-Winged Black Birds in the spring, as they make their way to wherever they go. I love how you got these shots in the water.

He has such shiny plumage! Even shinier than a Starling's.

I can only echo other comments Steve. The clarity is amazing. That grackle is almost oily! Stunning photography!

Once again Steve a superb capture of another 'black' species & showing that beautiful sheen. Well done. FAB

Gorgeous shots! They are so crispy, can see the waterdrops on the birds feathers!

Is the glistening on the end of the beak in photo number 2 water?

I can't say I'd blame those grackles for hanging out at a fountain in the desert.

The iridescence of some birds is very appealing to the eye.
