I found this Snowy Egret down by the docks in Clearwater, Florida. It was down in the shadows eying a school of fry. Sometimes you have to be fearless with the light. you can see teh fry in the lower left corner of the image.

We were enjoying a wine tasting at Cathedral Ridge Winery in Hood River, Oregon. It is in the Columbia River Gorge on the road betwixt Portland and Pendleton. We were chatting with the tasting room hostess and when we told her we were heading to Pendleton, she mentioned to us that she used to be a professional cowgirl and the catch phrase in Pendleton is “Let ‘er buck!” Sure enough. We went into an antique shop and I spotted this old calendar.
How was the wine? Awesome. We had a good tasting experience.

Sorry for not posting regularly. I have been running up and down the eastern side of the country and last weekend my daughter graduated from college out in Pendleton, Oregon. That is one happy young lady below.
Yup, she is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society, she is wearing cords and a gold Phi Theta Kappa collar because she did supper so well. We are all very excited for Anastasia.
I was extremely pleased to meet some of Anastasia’s professors, these three had taken specail interest in her development.

Aside from not seeing Red Knots every day, take a look at the bill on the bird to the right. We often think of bird bills as being rigid, and many bird have rigid bills. But some are able to flex. I have seen slow motion video of humming birds flexing their bills. This is the first time that I’ve photographed this.
Be sure to visit Wild Bird Wednesday this week!
