Here is a Least Sandpiper that hung out on the beach with me. We were on Honeymoon Island, Dunedin, Florida.
I was shooting by a swamp last Saturday. I saw a Northern Black Water Snake swimming by.
It swam off to my left about 30 feet away and I didn’t think much of it.
That is until a few minutes passed by and I saw it about eight feet from my feet.
It came in a little closer.
We watched each other for a little while and then off it went. Never pass up an opportunity to create some art.
I had the pleasure of relaxing on the beach with a pair of American Oystercatchers on Honeymoon Island in Dunedin, Florida.
Up on the very north end of the island, I found a another pair.
I saw an oriole’s nest high up in a tree and though that it was from last year. I was surprised with the female popped out! I watched her for a while. She would bring in some nesting material and go inside the nest and poke around for five minutes. Then she would fly off to return 15 to 20 minutes later.
There were lots of males singing in the tops of the trees, chasing each other around.
Be sure to visit Wild Bird Wednesday this week.
