Happy Thanksgiving!

This is what New England looked like last Thanksgiving. I hope that you are enjoying the holiday with family and friends.

Sharp-shinned Hawk

We do not see a lot of Sharpies in the colder months. This one was shot on a lobster boat in Gloucester Harbor two years ago.

Yes, it is time to get your calendars. I find Zazzle does a very good job at a very good price. You can buy mine or create your own.

I need a little color in my life

November is a tough time, the let down has settled in after the excitement of the fall foliage. Such is mid-autumn in New England. I was sending some photos to the cutting room floor and came across this Autumn Meadowhawk that I shot in August and never published. On a lunchtime walk last Friday, I did see one lone male in Dogtown. Today I didn’t see any. Not surprising since the temperatures are in the 40s.

The Very Last of the Dragons

Autumn Meadowhawks are the last dragons that take wing here in Massachusetts. It was about 45oF out Sunday morning and yet there were a few hardy dragons.

West Dummerston Bridge,

I took a drive over to Vermont and New York last weekend. We have had very warm weather in New England and although the most of the maples had dropped their leaves, the oaks were in full force.

You can compare this with the photo I took on the 10th of October.

Sugar Maple

We had a storm come through the middle of the week that stripped a lot of the foliage off of the trees.
