Grape Plume Moth on Black-eyed Susan

I found this interesting bug in Galway, New York.  It has a great strategy for survival. Look like a dead piece of dried up vegetation and add spiny legs. Now who would want to eat that?

As I ponder your surroundings, Steve, I am curious if you have considered visiting the Assabet River National Wildlife Refuge which was an EPA Superfund cleanup site under a different name about a decade after I lived in the area. The vernal pools appear particularly interesting with their potential to produce abundant insect life.

What a strange insect Steve. Yes who wants it, as you say.

Hi Bob, I do not get down to that area very often, but I did look it up. It looks like a spectacular place! Certainly a good place to find some dragons.
