Fox Sparrow

Massachusetts is on the northern end of the winter range of the Fox Sparrow. I have to admit that I have never seen a Fox Sparrow on the East Coast. Last Sunday I actually spotted three that were most likely stopping for a visit during their northern migration.

Shooting conditions were a bit tough, they were scratching for tasty bits in the shade. Regardless, you have to be fearless with the light.
