Seafood in the middle of Germany?

The first time I went to Germany, my host suggested that we go out to a seafood restaurant. My first thought was, “You are going to take a man from Gloucester to seafood restaurant in the middle of Germany?”

Well, yes. The restaurant is Hörnsheimer Eck in the old part of Wetzlar. I have been there three times and they do not disappoint.

We started out with tuna tartar, octopus, and crayfish. Some sun dried tomatoes on the left of my plate, crawdad, marinated eggplant and fresh mozzarella on the right. When I’m in Germany, I go for the wheat beer.

Above is a grilled fish platter that included salmon, swordfish and tuna. Look closely and you will see some octopus. Now I’m not a big octopus eater. But let me tell you at Hörnsheimer Eck, it is to die for.

It does look good but I'm not to big on eating Octopus or anything "raw" like tartar.
