Dragons behind the Whipple House

In the heart of Ipswich, Massachusetts is the Whipple House. Behind the house is a little pond by the Ipswich River. It is a fun place to photograph bugs. During this time of year there is a lot of Joe-Pye Weeds and Purple Loosestrife.

First up is a darner that ducked into the shadows. I’m pretty sure it is a Lance-tipped Darner.

I am so envious of all your dragons!! I can sometimes find them when they are sitting still, but not reliably...

The green eyes are like jewels.

Those are so wonderful. The first one has such a neat striped body. I love the shimmer of their wings and the big giant eyes.
