Burrowing Owl

Somewhere down at the southern end of the Salton Sea I found this Burrowing Owl on a stack of straw bales by the side of the road. Happy! Happy! Happy!

That’s not dust on my sensor, those are gnats.

I had to drive around to get a better shot.

Oh I didn't know there were burrowing owls near the Salton Sea ... that's great to know. We spent several winters in that area and loved exploring. (We have burrowing owls near where we winter now in Florida, my first time to see them was there.)

Yes great shots Steve. He is quite like our 'Little Owl' species, except they don't burrow but can be seen in daylight.

Hi Steve Fantastic shots and I love the last shot as usually one does not se the legs in this bird so that is a bonus.

Wonderful captures, especially the last one which has a real WOW factor. Does it have a nest near by by any chance?
