Long-tailed Ducks

I was up in York, Maine on Saturday. Along with yesterday’s Harlequin Ducks, I found some Long-tailed Ducks. In the wintertime, I’ve seen them in Gloucester Harbor, off Annisquam Light and on the Merrimack River in Newburyport. This is the first time I’ve seen them in off Cape Neddick.

They are funny looking things! I love the water in the background of all the images...

It looks curious about you, the photographer, not at all stink-eyed. Quite different from the other ones you photograph who want you gone...NOW!

This and the previous post. Lovely colourful ducks and you took some great shots Steve. Duck photos look much more interesting when they are fighting against the waves.

A very distinctive species, as are the Harlequins.
