American Black Duck

During the wintertime, the most common duck that you will find on the salt marsh on mudflats is the American Black duck. This is an east coast species, typically found in the Mississippi corridor east. In the summertime they will head to northern latitudes.

The American Black Duck is the darkest of the Anas genus which includes the Mallard.

Its seems strange to see a such a dark Mallard type duck Steve.
