Forgotten Photo Friday, Portland Head Light

Deck the halls! We are well into December. Here is an image that I used in my 2014 New England calendar. I took it last January on a very cold afternoon.

What a charming photo! It certainly is "beginning to look like Christmas".

I know there are many beautiful lighthouses around the world, but the Portland Headlight has a special place in my heart. My grandparents once lived in Cape Elizabeth, just a few blocks from the lighthouse, and remember fondly the sound of the foghorn through the open bedroom windows when I'd spend a summer night. When I took my brand new fiancé to see it the New Year's we got engaged nearly 26 years ago, his thin Texas blood nearly froze solid. :-) (He recovered and still married me, though I wouldn't have blamed him for holding a grudge!)

Anyway, this is one of the most beautiful photos of my favorite lighthouse I have ever seen. The lighting is perfect! And I love the festive wreath. Wonderful job!

(I'd love to pin it to my Lighthouses Pinterest board along w/your copyright info and a link to this post - would you be okay with that?)
