IIRC this house was restored by Phil Ross in the 60's.The fancy entryway cornice (Georgian?) does not fit with the classic saltbox architecture. The story at the time was that the builder's wife wanted that style, AND......so it came to be

Ha! That explains a great deal! Such as...why does the cornice protrude into the window line?
