Hooded Merganser, the buddy system

I had the pleasure of watching these two Hooded Mergansers on Saturday afternoon. I was very impressed at their success rate for diving and coming up with something tasty. These two were obviously working together as they would dive together and come up together.

Crab seemed to be the food item that they were enjoying.

She came up with a big one. Take a look as she dispatches and then eats it.

With the crab safely butchered, she horks it down.
