Here’s another bird that I don’t get to see very often except when I visit the California Coast in the wintertime. This Wimbrel was found in Pacific Grove, California.

I've seen whimbrels but these are definitely some of the lovelier pictures of them ever. Especially the one that's skimming the water as it starts to fly -- I love that. (And I'm slightly envious! I'm too old and too slow I'm afraid to reach my goal of getting a good flight shot..of anything...someday!)
