One of my old friends from the west coast is the Black Phoebe. You will see this pleasant bird throughout California, southern Arizona, New Mexico, down to Baja California and throughout Mexico. It is common in urban areas in yards and park lands. They especially like to be near ponds and streams. Even more fun is that they prefer to be in moderately low branches, making them excellent photo subjects.
