We have a Northern Mockingbird in the neighborhood that takes up residence in the Bittersweet bush.

He is a great model and knows how to work the light and strike the poses.

This time of year, he gets a bit territorial, this is his Bittersweet bush and a that is the final word. He’s cool with the House Sparrows that hang out and doesn’t mind the Song Sparrow.

However, when a marauding band of European Starlings comes by, he chases them off.

LOVE your mocker!
Great pictures Steve. Only seen this bird once.
...he does seem to be posing! Beautiful detail...
Beautiful photos.
You are so right about him being a born model!! Can't decide which pose I like the best...
Nice images of our state bird here in Florida!
To Kill a Mockingbird is one of my favourite books, but there's no such bird downunder! Now I know what they look like!!! But I didn't realise they were such hams ...
Nice picture - I heard of Mockingbirds the same way Red seems to have - never managed to see one, which is a shame.
Cheers and thanks for linking to WBW - Stewart M - Melbourne.
What a beauty and oh yes, we have one too, which I shall share next week. He is in the Crabapple tree next door though and how he thinks he can handle all of those over ripened fruits, is beyond me;')~
Great shots of the model Mocker Steve! How lucky for you that it chases off your invading Starlings!
Superb lighting on these images, great post
