One of these things is not like the other,
One of these things just doesn’t belong…
Maybe you are young enough to remember the song, or perhaps you have or had young children that played this game. It’s what I thought of when I saw this picture.

It was getting late in the evening and the sun was going down. The Snowy Egrets were coming into a roost. Then a black egret came in??? It is a Little Blue Heron. We are at the very extreme north of their range on the eastern seaboard.

Little Blue Herons are classified as Egretta caerulea. Snowy Egrets are Egretta thula. So why didn’t they name this the Little Blue Egret as it looks more like an egret than a heron? Just sayin’.

A Snowy Egret with the glow of the low, setting sun.

Beautiful Steve. Never have I seen Little Blue Heron. Carol
I love the blue heron. He blends in so well with the trees. The snowy egret is gorgeous as well. Thank you for sharing!
Yep I remember that song! Cool shots!!
Good point. How beautiful these are - I've also never seen a little blue heron. Gorgeous shots, especially that last one!
