It is always fun to get two species in the same photo. But when you get two Yellowlegs in the same photo, it is really cool. Every time I encounter Yellowlegs, it is either one or the other and it is always a dive into the field guides to figure out which one I got.
It was different on Saturday. I got ‘em both. Let’s start out with this photo two Greater Yellowlegs in the center and two Lesser Yellowlegs on the periphery.

A Greater Yellowlegs enjoying the sun. Note the slightly upturned bill.

A Greater on the left, and Lesser on the right.

Another snoozer.

A Lesser Yellowlegs feeding.

Check out the straight bill on this Lesser Yellowlegs.

Lesser Yellowlegs. I think he’s actually smiling at me.

I hope this post was helpful. Good birding!
