Everyone loves a Bluebird. Here in the North East, the Eastern Bluebird chicks have fledged and they are learning about life out of the nest.

A couple of fledglings follow mom and dad into a mulberry tree.

Here’s a shot of mom keeping an eye on things…

…and dad’s on the fence.

Did you know that Bluebirds are members of the Thrush family? It’s true, they are related to the American Robin and the Hermit Thrush.

One of my all time favorite birds to watch is the Eastern Bluebird. I've been thinking of putting up a feeder just for them. These images are beautiful Steve. I hope you'll photograph those little fellas again. Carol
Thank you for these beautiful images, I love the Eastern Bluebird and miss not seeing any around here.
Dad's quiet the poseur, very impressive postures!
Lovely all.
Hi Carol, You must have quite a few down in Kentucky. I had them year round in Tennessee when I lived there.
Hi Merisi,
You are quite welcome. Yes, the male was putting on quite the show.
Fabulous shots Steve, amazing colours even the young ones.
I do love the Bluebirds! Unfortunately all 6 of the babies that fledged from our BB house have gone. Something happened to the female right after the second brood was born and all 5 babies died. I think she may have been taken by a small hawk that was frequenting the area, or hit by a car. The male is all we have left.
Wonderful juvenile images. Not easy to capture!
