This is one of my favorite flowers in Dogtown. The Lance-leaved Coreopsis blooms from May through July, but has made its appearance here in mid June. It seem to be a favorite with the bugs. I’ve seen numerous critters taking advantage of this flower.

Above is possibly an Pearl Crescent. It is hard to tell because it is showing some wear. Below is an American Lady.

A little cricket like but finds a convenient perch.

Variation on a theme? This is a different flower with a different bug!

This crab spider is just waiting in ambush for a bug to come and feed. I had a short time during lunch or I would have waited to see if there would be any action.

This fly is taking advantage of the bounty. It is probably too big for the little jumping spider to tackle. Do you see the spider at 8:00?

Wonderful coreopsis photos. I especially like the little spider.
