It’s a tough industry. Sometimes families have been left behind by the men that didn’t make it back to the shelter of the breakwater. This is a fact in Gloucester. Today with better weather forecasting and communications, disasters at sea are very uncommon. Yet still, some families have been left behind.

to commemorate those who wait, those who return, and those who do not.
Nice picture and nice commemoration! You still have sunshine?
What a beautiful representation of strength and courage on the part of the families. The sailors as well - I guess, whether it be courage to leave their loved ones behind as they follow the call of the sea - or necessity - to feed and care for their loved ones - it seems there is always someone behind the scenes - doing the supporting, the missing, and the worrying and the endless waiting.
A lovely memorial. Thank you for sharing with us.
Lovely shot of a beautifully sculpted memorial.
