Sometimes you just get lucky.

Last night I went for a walk around town after work. I was down by Saint Peter’s Square when this juvenile Double-crested Cormorant popped up with a rock gunnel. (Thanks for the i.d.help Easy Diver Chris!) Tough shooting because I didn’t have time to look over the camera and adjust it. It popped up between me and the sun. Sometimes you just get lucky. I'd say it was a little luck and a lot of skill! I love the third shot - you should publish it or something.

Luck - 50%...Skill - 30%... and Equip -20% all combine to get great pictures.

I think he has a rock gunnel, not a sea worm. Here's a picture of one:

Hi Chris,
I would have to agree not that I see the picture. Rock Gunnel it is.

Thanks Richard and Tabib. Good to hear from you both again.

Hi Susan W, I'm not sure I could get that one put on the cover of Vogue or not!

Right, Giraffe Head Tree, If it wasn't fun, why bother?

You betchya Eve! Good luck is good.

Oddly enough I have just shot a couple of a Cormorant in a similar situation, but they are nowhere near as good as these. Nice shooting Steve.
