Forgotten Photo Friday, Red Admirals

Can you believe this is the first butterfly that I shot this year and never posted it? Yes, the first two shots are the same bug shot in May 5th, 2010.

A week later, I shot this one up in Maine. These photos are of the same bug, one on Juniper and then on a Lilac.

We probably tend to forget a lot of pictures, especially when we take 1000 per year ;-) That's a beautiful one and that's nice you thought about it. have a nice week end.

Red Admirals are beautiful butterflies, and this seems to have been the year for them! Beautiful shots! ~karen

Wonderful! Great shots. I really like the last one! I haven't seen any Admirals around here this year. It's been a bad year for all butterflies. Too wet and cool

Just happened in and saw this post. Thought you might be interested in knowing that this is indeed a butterfly, known as Vanessa atalanta, or commonly known as the Red Admiral Butterfly.

You should read up the facts on these precious little friends, they like people.

Here is my post about them and where you can find more details {you may want to disregard the beginning babble in the post}.

:) Great shots.
