Eastern Comma

Shot along the Mad River in Stowe, VT, this Eastern Comma was rather cooperative.

With the wings folded, one can see the comma for which the genus Polygonia gets its name.

A beauty Steve! I have seen these a lot this year - compared to last. But haven't seen many Monarchs - and I saw a ton of those last year. I wonder if the dryer weather here is a factor? I noticed that our milkweed is dried up in a lot of spots :(
