Blue Dasher

The Blue Dashers are out in force.  When they are not chasing each other about or hawking gnats, they will light long enough to let you work with them.  Below are two males and a female. When it is hot out, they will perch in this posture. It helps them stay cooler by minimizing the amount of sunlight shining on them.

Stunning shots Steve. Have you noticed that they will actually face the sun in order to cool off as then the least amount of their body is exposed to it?
