The Ipswich River

There was a huge rain storm in New England while I was in China. This is the Ipswich River by the EBSCO Publishing mill building. I took these pictures a couple of days after the river crested. At the high water mark, the water was at the bottom of the bridge in the last photo. It had dropped a good 18 inches.

My heavens. The force of water is truly impressive. I hope all is well there.

Wow! We had the Exeter River in Exeter at just about the bottom of the bridge as well. Somehow it always looks worse in some other town. If you want any other high water pictures you can come on down to my basement...we've had water down there for over two weeks now. Every time we get it dried out it rains again.

It's our turn in Maine today, river cresting warnings issued all over the state. Yesterday they claimed my area could get up to a foot of rain total - holy crap. I think it's been downgraded to 6". Stay dry!

Very dramatic! I can't believe all of the rain southern New England is getting. My sister lives in Topsfield, and she said it's been nonstop.

Enjoyed your China photos, too. The barge photos were my favorite. Welcome home!

Oh, wow! I think these are amazing! I'm loving the contrast between the silky, glassy, dark texture of the water and then the tumultuous, light, frothy water after it falls. Awwwww-sum!
