Common Eider

I was walking by the docks and saw a couple of male Common Eiders sauntering in. This is a bit unusual because the tend to shy away from people. But sometimes you get lucky and if you are in an area where they are used to see fishermen working on the docks, they may come in. This time I got lucky.

The first one is my favourite, with his funny face, and the reflections of the sky in the water around him! I have never seen photos of common eider before, so this is a new bird for me!

Those have to be some of the best photos I've ever seen - and I've never even seen the bird! Wow!

They do seem to be a little skittish. I've noticed that too. You caught them good though Steve. The water doesn't even look real!

These birds look so wise. The Gandalf of birds, seemingly.

Have to agree with the majority that the last shot is a stunner. Glad you were there at the right time Steve!
