Forgotten Photo Friday, Blue Eyes
Last July I had the opportunity to visit a Brant's Cormorant nesting colony. They have the bluest eyes. You can see other photos from this shoot on my earlier post.

A blue-eyed bird with a blue throat, too. Gorgeous Cormorant!
I remember you had some great shots of these birds before. Their feathers look like Crow feathers! They almost don't look real.
Did you catch that sunset tonight Steve? It was a good one!
...Steve...these are fantastic. I love those blue eyes and the intensely vibrant blue gular pouch...incredible!!!
Beautifully cooordinated cormorant and what a vivid blue it is.
Brilliant images Steve. The Blue eye and electric blue under the beak varies from our species which has a green eye and yellow under the beak.
Lovely shots Steve!! Those eyes are amazing!
Awesome pics !
Thanks, all. I have to point out that I have not messeed with the color balance or saturation on these photos. Just corrected the exposure a little. These are the real colors.
Super duper, blue eyes. FAB.
Magnificant photos Steve of a magnificant bird, I love his blue eyes and throat. We only have the Common Race of Cormorant here in the UK.
Hi Steve,
You forgot to mention the nicest blue-throat too! Wow they are just cute (sorry!!)... These shots are beautiful and I would love to see this bird which is still not on my bird list but we cannot get everything on it ;-)
We have some Brandts Cormorants here in the northwest coast too, but they are a minority to the pelagics. I wonder if it has to do with nesting requirements which are different than the pelagics.
Love those blue eyes and markings too.
Terrific photos!!!
Blue is right! Those almost look too blue to be real.
And I don't think I'd want to run afoul (no pun intended) of one of these guys. That bill looks like it could do some serious damage!
That is so cool Steve. Another bird with that beautiful blue color. (Roy's Blue Tit)! I mentioned the color matches my motorcycle and car!
