I got up early to get to work a little early and while pulling out, I spied a Cooper's Hawk. Since I was ahead of schedule, I had time to go back for my camera, grab a few shots and get to work on time.

What a beautiful hawk! I do believe that we have one that has claimed our neighborhood as its territory. It swoops down on the doves and pigeons. Sometimes I see it getting a drink in my back yard.
Great shots of the Coopers hawk. It was nice to have some great lighting too.
It's too bad it's so brutally cold for the Cape Ann Birding Week-end. Most people would struggle to stay outside very long with temps in the teens, or lower. The boat trip sounds like fun!
I didn't realize you even had a backyard. Wonderful looking Hawk. It appears it is surviving these frigid days, and nights, quite well.
Enjoyed the video too! You're so funny Steve! Gotta have that hat!
I love me a nice hawk! I've been rather obsessed with taking pics of them lately as I pass one or two daily (in one particular spot) on my way to work. Though I'm often late, it's so worth it!
You captured some lovely shots!
Nancy : )
Gorgeous photos and great video Steve. Loved it all. We got may two inches of the white stuff last night. Now on to digging out. Carol
Wonderful photos of the hawk and I enjoyed your video very much. Enjoyed your book selection too and my husband who watched the video with me said that's a great hat! I agree :)
Excellent shots!
I love the first one with the glint of the sun across this eyes.
you are very lucky indeed! A goshawk was in my neighbor's tree a few weeks ago and I saw a bald eagle along the Ipswich River last night, but I didn't have a camera either time. you always seem to be at the right place at the right time WITH your camera!
Wow! These are wonderful shots. You are really lucky to be able to capture this in your own yard. :)
Great interview Steve. Very "Ambassadorial" for Cape Ann area.
Fantastic photos.
Great shots!
I played too :)
Wow, really great shots!
Those are some seriously wonderful photos! :)
Great shots! I had a similar encounter with a red tailed hawk having a snake for lunch. Some of the pics make me feel a little queezy though...
