This is one of my very favorite places. Even though it's a little touristy...they have done quite a nice job with it. Did you see the old ruins nearby? They are really cool.

...I love the roof on the house...and the whitewash showing up on the peak. It's a gorgeous shot.

Beautiful Steve. I was there last year before the goldenrod and all the beautiful colors. I love seeing these shots!

Very nice, Steve. I've been to Portland Head a couple of times and always take a gazillion photos. You can see a few here: http://amovablebridge.wordpress.com/2009/09/19/portland-head-light/

Hi Hip Chick! Yes, there were a bus load of people there, but still, with patience, you can get a shot, especially if you shoot over the bushes!

Hi Chris, The cloud layer gave me the opportunity to shoot from a lot of angles without harsh shadows. We did have some mild windy weather.

Hi Kerri, this is the time of the year! Come on up!

Kelly, Most of the keepers’ houses have red roofs up here. It really adds color.

Hi Eve, I’m glad you got to see this before you moved out of the North East.

Hi amovablebridge, I heard from GMG that you were up here for the dory drawing.

Beautiful images Steve. You certainly used the cloudy day to your advantage.

Thanks for identifying my sparrow. There are so many with such similar markings and then throw in the variable of imatures that I hesitate to attempt a positive id. Thanks again, much appreciated.

Like Kelly I think the roof is fabulous. And the soft fall flowers and floliage in the foreground really bring out the color of the roof. Great elements synergistically combined.
