West Dummerston Covered Bridge

I shot this at noon last Friday. I could not believe how wonderful the light was at mid day. This bridge is the longest operating covered bridge in Vermont at 271 feet. It crosses the West River just outside of Brattleboro, VT.

Hi Steve,
I got the same feeling, this is a very old bridge, isn't it?
Yes it looks like you got a nice light for a mid-day... Here it is starting to be hard with the light. quite grey and often really dark already!

The bridge is lovely. It doesn't look like the leaves have started to change to much. I'm thinking they will be beautiful in the next two weeks. Maybe you should take another trip.

Your right, the light is great! Not to bright, not to cloudy, and beautiful blue skies. I'd love to walk across the bridge!

Thanks all, I do have a few more that I'm going to post shortly. The leaves are not quite turning, but I had the day off and the weather was great. I'd like to go back up an shoot this bridge again, weather cooperating with my weekends.

What a gorgeous picture. I love covered bridges. I live about 20 miles from the Langley Covered Bridge in Centreville, MI which I enjoy taking pictures of. Can't wait to see to see the other pictures you took. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful capture. All of the covered bridges in California are in the northern part of the state, so me being down here in the southern part of the state, I can only see them when I'm traveling.

Great shot, looks like you went into the river for it. Covered bridges make great subjects.

What a fantastic shot, Steve! Terrific composition, could be a painting. The colors are so rich and the sky is beautiful. Somehow you can feel fall even with so much green!

Have a great weekend!

What a pretty shot. It makes me want to take off my shoes and go wading in, but I suspect that water is cold.

Very well composed Steve.
For the ignorant ones (ie me) you will have to explain why are these bridges covered? FAB

What a nice area of Vermont that is. I used to work in Putney, about 45 miles north of me. I'm glad that commute has been over for some time.

Lovely capture on such a splendid day!

Nature cooperated with you very well in order to get almost perfect shot of this bridge and sky view. Very good job.

I know that bridge! Off Rte 30 I believe.
I am surprised there is not more fall foliage at this point.

I love this covered bridge. I live in northern VT near Burlington, and there aren't too many covered bridges in my neck of the woods. Your photo is really nice, and I'm impressed that you took this at mid-day. It has a late afternoon feel to it.
