I didn't have the best butterfly season. I was saved in early September by visiting the Ipswich River Audubon property in Topsfield where they have a butterfly garden set up. Here are the species that I shot that day.
Below are some photos I took of my home town on the 25th of September. Be sure to have a look.

Those are beautiful. I have been taking pictures of butterflies this week. Helen
Best set of butterfly images I have ever seen.
Thanks Steve
Great shots of those beautiful butterflies!
I didn't see a lot of butterflies in my area this year either. I think we had a wet spring and that might account for it. In any case you did manage to take some nice photos. Quality stuff.
So beautiful. Butterflies just bring out this smile in me. They're so soft looking. You captured them terrifically. Carol
Śliczne zdjęcia , piękne motyle , pozdrawiam :)
That Swallowtail is a stunner! Lets hope you get more butterfly moments next year! (-:
Nice to see some flutters I recognise. I'm sure I read something recently suggesting that the US had had much lower butterfly no's this year Steve. Any indications as to why? FAB.
All beautiful. I enjoyed seeing a painted lady especially.
These are amazing shots! I want your camera! What is it?
Hi Shirl, You can always check out "My Gear" link to the left and check out my recent dragonfly posts.
There seemed to be a few Painted Ladies around that day, Janie.
Thanks Koand.
Hi Carol, I'm glad that people smile when they come here.
We certainly had a wet May and June here too, Squirrel.
Thanks Caroline and Roy.
I hope to see your butterflies real soon Helen.
Superb Steve! Sorry I haven't been around much but trying to catch up.
I really LOVE LOVE LOVE these!
Wonderful captures!!
Spectacular shots Steve especially the swallowtail.
Oh, they are lovely, Steve!
There is something about that first clouded sulphur I really love...and the Giant Swallowtail is beautiful...
Hi Steve,
This is a wonderful set of shots, but I have to say that I definitively love the last one... It is the best of the set for me. Beautiful colors there.
They are so beautiful, all of them. And so are the photos!
Fantastic Steve!!
My butterfly lists report that butterflies suffered this year with the cold wet spring in the northeast and there is a concern about the monarchs.... Beautiful photos.. Michelle
