Going out on a limb

Cicadas alway remind me of August when I was young and I would hear them behind my Grandmothers house. I had know idea what was making that noise, only that it was coming from hight in the trees.

I'm going out on a limb and calling this a Lance-tipped Darner.

Don't know if you realize it but for those of us with smaller screens, we can't see the whole image. Can you change them and make them slightly smaller. If you don't, I'm ok with that. Just thought you'd want to know.

Wow!!! now I have to start climbing trees for Cicadas. How did you ever get that shot? Great. I like the Darner too.

"But Grandmother, what big eyes you have." :) They reminded me of this story. A great find and more wonderful pics Steve.

...beautiful, beautiful captures. Cicadas always mean the heat of August to me also... (except when they are 17-yr periodic cicadas and arrive en masse in June!)

Great captures! I often wonder how many cicadas it takes to make such loud sound....it is 10 or 20 or 100 or so? Lovin' these!
