It looks cold but beautiful!
The gulls blend right in.
Very nice shots.

My post is at Carletta’s Captures.

Love the subtle colors in these photos. The gulls look they are posing. And the water is delightful, like you want splash it all about.

That first pic is quit amazing! So full of life - can almost feel the water coming through my PC!

Great images under the conditions Steve. Those GBB Gulls are some mean looking birds.

Nice Steve. Simple yet beautiful.

I have to say I'm am sick of shooting winter photography myself and feeling very uninsprired lately. The cold weather has done me in. You're a hardy one.

First, I want to welcome all of the Watery Wednesday people that are visiting for the first time. I do my best to acknowledge each comment. I know there are a bazillion photo blogs out there and anyone that visits SMU and takes the time to leave a comment deserves to know that they have been heard.

Hi Carletta, You must have visited right after I hit the publish button. I’ll go check your’s out a little later!

Hi Tricia, I’ve got some Cape Ann links to the left, we’d love to have you. Order Haddock, it’s the local fish!

Yes, Leora, they didn’t flinch a bit when the big rollers came in. The trick is to get colors at all. There is so much moisture in the air that the light scatters about and makes the shots look flat. I have to boost the saturation a little, something that I rarely because it can make the colors look “too perfect” and I want to show what I saw.

Hi Guy, I’m honored. Stop in any time, the door’s always open.

Hi Joan, the only problem is that I shoot so many pictures when the surf is up that I start to fill up my hard drive. Then I have to put on my editor’s hat and be ruthless and delete my work.

Hi Nell, thanks for stopping by.

Hi Valkyrien, its fun so shoot the surf, but hard on the equipment. When I got home, I could taste the salt on my lips!

Hi Roy, Those GGBs are actually pretty laid back. But they are HUGE 24” gulls.

I know Sharon, I actually drove up along 1A through New Hampshire and Portsmouth into the back roads of Kittery wondering if I would ever pull out my camera.

Wonderful ocean shots. I wish I lived closer to the ocean, I'd be out everyday. Thanks for the view on the other side of the States.

Great shots! I love the difference between the two shots, one with the crashing wave and one just after. And the birds seem totally unphased by it all. :-D Makes me wish I could hit the beach today.

Great nature force, and you documented it so dramatically.

Two superb images, I just want to be there so badly to see it for myself.

The rocks colours are gorgeous and I like the contrast of first the dramatic splash in the first photo to the almost waterfall like effect in the second. Roy is right, those Great Black backs are big bruisers!

Hi Eve, I’m so glad your computer is up and running. I missed having you stop by.

Hi Lorri, Thanks for commenting. I lucked out with the colors as I commented above.

Kden, you have a starfish for a avatar and you don’t live near the ocean? Oh, you could use a fix!

2sweetnsaxy, bundle up if you are going to the beach up here! I suggest a wet suit! Glad to have you stop by again.

Hi Tabib, good to see you stop buy.

Hi Denise, Maybe some day! Cape Ann will welcome you.

Hi Allhoresstuff, Welcome to SMU.

Hi Jenny, I picked those two photos for that very reason! Yes, when you see the Great Black-backed Gulls next to a Black-headed gull, it’s like seeing a 747next to a Lear Jet.

It's a perfect photograph. I love the depth of color of the rocks in the foreground. And the rock furthere back looks like an incredible waterfall. Gorgeous.
