Old Friend, Black Phoebe

This is another old friend from California. The Black Phoebe is common around urban areas, parks and open spaces. They are friendly and best of all, eat bugs. This is one of my favorite Phoebes.

Such a beautiful bird and your photos are fantastic. I love to see that light in the eye in these close-ups. Brings them so much to life.

Lovely photos Steve, yes the glint in the eye really does lift a photo. I remember seeing Black Phoebe on Santa Cruz Island while looking for Island Scrub Jay. A real character!

First, Welcome Deepak, a first time commenter, thank for stopping by. Deepak has been posting birds from his corner of his universe.

Hi Joan, I have it on good authority that they only eat bad bugs.

Yes Tabib, I was thinking that myself when I saw your posts.

Mary, I like the Eastern Phoebe too, but I've never been able photograph it!

Welcome Kelly of "Red and the Peanut" fame. Certainly a photographer of skill shooting her universe.

Jenny, the cool thing about Phoebes is that they love the sun and it make is easy to get photos like this. This is one black and white bird that I've never had problems photographing.

Kerri, Kim, Mary, Eve and Denise, I'm always glad to have you stop buy and I'll be watching to see what you've posted later today!

Cool bird, Steve! My husband would appreciate this one as he would like the starkness of the black and white. Very tuxedo-ish. Handsome fella.
