Sunrise, sunset.

I was headed by Tenpound Island yesterday morning before work and snapped this one off during the sunrise.

Then when I was heading home after work, I snapped this one off during the sunset. Both are looking South, South-west.

These are just great! You couldn't have had a better day for these two shots! Now Tenpound Island...where did that name come from? Is that how much it cost?? I know it weighs more!!!

Great photographs as always. I do enjoy lighthouses.

I've heard three theories to the name of Tempound Island. 1) The island was purchased from the natives for ten pounds sterling. 2) There were ten sheep pounds (pens) on the island.
3) There were once ten pound cannons placed on the island.

No one knows for sure but the 10 pounds sterling is highly unlikely.

There used to be a island in the inner harbor called Fivepound island. That has been filled in so it is part of the mainland now.

Hi Steve, Gorgeous photos again. I love how you captured the light house as well.

Looking at all of your gorgeous sunrise/set pictures prompted me to go out on Monday morning and take some pictures of the sunrise. One thing I noticed is that the picture came out better using my flash. I usually NEVER use flash as it messes up most of my photos. Not this time though.

Thanks for inspiring me!

Most cameras set the exposure for 1/60sec. This may have been ideal for you shot. Not knowing what you are using, some cameras change the white balance when using flash. This can impact the image also. Who knows?

I'm glad that you find inspiration in my images. That has made my night.

How did I miss this one Steve? Sorry about that!! I just love the colors in these. It is amazing that they can look so different at various times of the day.
