Every time I go to Rockport...

© 2008 ShootingMyUniverse

Every time I go to Rockport, I say to myself, “I’m not going to photograph Motif #1”. I've taken so many photos of this Rockport Icon that my hard drive is filling up. But then I get up there and start walking around. There are always other shutter bugs there clicking away. Will the sun not rise in the morning if I don't submit to temptation? Of course it will. I'm just not going to do it.

Well, here is a photo from our last trip up to Sandy Bay. (I'm so weak.)

The first picture is gorgeous! I love how the red building reflects in the water and the contrast of the blue water makes it even more striking.

I am glad you were weak when you took the picture because its the first time I saw a photo of motif #1!! ;o)

Steve,

Your visit sent me here and I'm so glad! You talked about writing - hey, your photos speak volumes. They're grand! You must be a professional photographer - one I admire.

It's nice to meet you!

I'll be back!

Both photos are stunning Steve. You couldn't have captured that boat at a more perfect time. Perfect light on both shots!
Thanks!

I am so glad you are weak Steve!! Else we would not have these lovely photographs. LOL!! I love the reflections in the water. Please be weak everytime you go out with your camera so that I can enjoy your pics. :) I love the seagull too but not as much as the water one.

LOL, I forget that this isn't an everyday sight for others. Or perhaps there isn't a challenge? Motif #1 never twitches, never turns it’s head, you can count on it being there, it is a good shot in bad light, it is an excellent shot in good light. And best of all, it doesn’t fly away when you point a camera at it!

Hi Mary, welcome to SMU! Glad you stopped by!

As far as the Herring Gull goes, when you get close enought to a bird to take a shot...you take the shot!

The key to both of these images are that the sun is low in the sky here. We are almost half way to the North Pole so the low angle light is great for mid afternoon shooting.

Steve, if I recall correctly, in the last photo you posted of Motif #1 there was a young couple sitting on the wharf enjoying a private moment. Is that right?

I do believe this is one of those places that you should shoot often because it's always beautiful. I look forward to a snow view!

I like gulls : )
