A little help please?

(c)2008 ShootingMyUniverse

I got this on Plum Island when we went out with Geoff Coe. Anyone know what this is? There was only one. It was with a couple dozen Monarch Butterflies.

The top photo looks like a painted lady butterfly. Both shots are great.

Thanks John, that give me a place to start looking. Mary, you know so many SA bugs! This is a North American Critter. I'll have to go get another butterfly book. I loaned my out a few years ago.

Say, Go check out Kyles photos from Utah!

There are so many of these which are quite similar to ours, just a slight difference so at least I can usually make out what type it is if not the exact name, but I am learning fast :)

Steve I'll be back tomorrow for more comments...I believe that is an American Lady...very close to the Painted lady but just a bit different. Also that black spot on the Monarch is showing that it's a male!!
Cool!
